She stated she is excited to work for Schlegel because “Winter is really known for doing amazing hair.” She said she was drawn to work at Schlegel’s salon because “There is so much that I want to learn, I feel like as stylist you never stop learning. Otis, who specializes in weddings, has also been a stylist for seven years. The cosmetology licensed stylist all met in beauty school. ![]() Stylists include Katie Arlich, Jessica Koehler, Amber Otis and licensed apprentice Adriana Salmeron. Schlegel said each stylist has their own specialty. She said, “I want people to know when they come in here they are going to leave with a good service.” She further explained, “I want people to feel happy when they are in here.” The clean and cheerful décor of the salon reinforces this sentiment. When selecting employees, talent along with strong customer service skills were a must for Schlegel. Schlegel expressed gratitude for her husband’s support during the process of opening Serenity Salon. She stated that as she prepared to return to work, her husband encouraged her to open her own salon in Willits, which is closer to their home (she had previously worked in Ukiah and Laytonville). Schlegel has been a hair stylist for seven years and graduated from Ukiah Beauty College. The sleek salon offers a variety of services and features five stylists. 30 Serenity Salon officially opened for business under the ownership of local stylist Winter Schlegel. ![]()
